Garena's Garena first league (GPL) was launched in May 2012. The GPL is a pro online gaming tournament that runs for six months and includes more than 100 games. The first season of GPL includes the League of Legends competition which is comprised of six professional teams. Each team is comprised of some of the most talented players in their respective nations. GPL games are recorded and streamed online with commentaries, which can be viewed by viewers see on the GPL official website In January 2013 Garena revealed the second Season of Garena Premier League, which began on January 4, 2013. Garena Premier League 2013, which began on 4 January 2013, will include two new teams. One each from Taiwan as well as Vietnam. It brings the teams' total to eight. They include AHQ (Asia), Saigon Fantastic Five (Saigon Jokers), Bangkok Titans (Bangkok) Kuala Lumpur Hunters(Kuala Lumpur) The Manila Eagles(Manila) The Taipei Assassins and Singapore Sentinels. The Garena E-Sports Arena, a venue for esports, was opened in November of 2014, in the Neihu District of Taipei. This studio was partly built for games from the League of Legends Masters Series which is the top-of-the-line LoL Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau league. The tournament was a spin-off from GPL. In January of 2015, Garena launched Iron Solari League which is a women's League of Legends tournament in the Philippines. The tournament is scheduled for the second month in every month. The goal of this event is to promote participation by communities that are underrepresented and is open to all women who identify such. Alongside tournaments for competitive play, Garena also organizes events designed to allow members to get together and make connections offline. Garena organizes the Garena Festival which is held in Singapore, Malaysia and other countries.
