McCormack was born in a house that had no connection to entertainment in any way in her family tree was the daughter of a clinical therapist and an owner of an Ice Cream Parlor. Following her parents' divorce in 1990, she was enrolled at Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut and earned the degree of BA in Comparative Art. Her career began at the young twelve years old when she appeared in a stage production of a Christmas opera titled 'Amahl and the Night Visitors'.
